Prenatal Yoga

Pregnancy is a remarkable time in a woman’s life. During this nine-month voyage you will go through spectacular physical and spiritual changes. Prenatal Yoga is a great way to prepare your body and mind for childbirth while alleviating discomforts of pregnancy such as back and hip pain, muscle stiffness, and leg cramps.

Through a balanced flow of movement, breath, relaxation and meditation common fears and anxiety will be replaced with calmness and a newly re-energized body. We will help you find a balance between physical, hormonal and emotional change. You will gain a deeper understanding of your changing body to make you feel more confident and comfortable. Yoga in our METROFIT™'s medical facility ensures that you are not only practicing yoga but also have proper health care. Beyond the classroom doors you will develop everlasting relationships with other expectant women who are all going through the same experience. Knowledgeable teachers will be able to provide you with any general information that can help you with a birth plan that works best for you

Post-Partum Yoga

Postpartum yoga can help obtain and maintain a feeling of general well - being required of any new mother. In our postpartum yoga class we offer METROFIT™'s finest available care along with goal oriented personalized treatment that allows our patients to achieve the utmost level of physical function.

We combine our knowledge in physical therapy with that of the ancient yoga practice. The movements and posture are great for women who have just given birth a few weeks prior to taking a class as well as for mothers with young children. Classes are specifically designed to strengthen and tone muscles directly affected and weakened by the stresses put on the body while pregnant and in labor.

Restorative  Yoga

This is a gentle, therapeutic style of Yoga that uses props to support the body to deepen the benefits of the poses. It is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscious relaxation.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga improves your flexibility – The stretching that you engage in during every practice helps lengthen and stretch muscles, which helps reduce the risk of injuries.

Tones your muscles– Yoga works all the muscles in your body. It helps strengthen and tone them and also builds endurance and stamina.

Helps to increase your level of energy – Carrying tension in your body takes an enormous toll on your energy reserves. By learning how to relax through your yoga practice, you benefit by enjoying higher levels of energy so you can more thoroughly enjoy your daily activities.

Promote a sense of relaxation – Breathing deeply as practiced in yoga, helps relax your muscles and also brings much needed oxygen to your cells. The deep sense of relaxation also leads to better quality sleep.

Increases body awareness- relieves chronic stress patterns in the body, refreshes the body by relieving muscle strain, relaxes the mind and body, centers attention, and sharpens concentration.
